South shore locations

My wife and I and another couple are staying in South Yarmouth this coming weekend. The wives will sit on the beach and drink bloody mary's while my buddy and I fish. I have never fished the south shore of the cape. Since we will be located down there I would like to get a few recommendations on where to fish. I am not asking for anyone to reveal their favorite spots, but perhaps a few beaches or creeks that might increase our chance at getting into some fish. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Steve

Provided the wind does not come hard out of the south / southwest or sometimes a hard west will mess things up you should have good flyfishing opportunities where the bait is and the birds clue you in. Lots of blues lately, but there are good bass around.

You have Parker River at Seagull; Bass River as Phil points out; Herring River is not too far up the road and west to Hyannis (Kalmus side or inside, not the Kennedy complex). If you are ok with a drive I highly recommend yakking over to the far side at Dowses on the outgoing (over by Wianno). If I were in your shoes I would not pass up an ebb tide on the far side of Dowses this week.

Hardtails have been spotted over in the Centerville area this week so an encounter anywhere in that area is likely.

Thanks guys.....I am excited about exploring new territory. The house we are staying at is 200 yds from the Bass River, so we will spend some time there. We will definitely head over to Dowes beach with the yaks. I checked it out using the birdseye view satelite on Bing and the farside of the inlet does look fishy!! Hopefully we won't have to deal with high winds. Last time I looked the forecast was for wind out of the north. Happy fishing to all....
