Thumbs up Revisiting Nirvana

I've always tried to live my life in a multi-faceted way but when the facets exceed the hours something's gotta give. Lately it's been fishing that's had to give, as strange as that may sound for an annointed 'fish guy'... long story.

Anyway, yesterday I met up with a friend and headed to a little slice of heaven on earth under flat calm bluebird dry sunny skies with a hard running tide and bait darkening the water over stealthy striped predators on sugar white sands.

Yes they were their usual mid-summer finicky selves, but with a little tact and luck I started to hook up shorts and ended up with a fat summer 30-something that ran like lightning around the skinny flat, mid-day and enjoyed visual reactions and subtle takes from others much bigger who were hesitant but ultimately temptable.

Then we took a little chill time to pluck littlenecks in clam heaven which were promptly put on ice and served with fresh horseradish, cocktail and lemon with a particularly good vognier to celebrate the gift that the outdoorsman savors each outing whether beaten by wind and cold horizontal rain or coddled in perfect conditions as was the case. It's a good life, the sportsman's.

I wonder what the tide is doing right now...

All work and no play makes Juro wordsmith. Fred get your mind out of the gutter and John Nanu Nanu at least I know how to use punctuation and white space

Smile Perfect post

Thanks Juro,

We are a couple of Cape Striper addicts from the UK, looking forward to our trip in a months time, your word painting was fantastic.

I think we met you last June as we walked out to Morris Island ( if you had a double handed rod, sinking line, absent Englishman and had just fished the right bit of the tide for keepers - unlike ourselves!). You pointed me to this forum.

We will be keeping an eye on the forum in anticipation over the next few weeks.

Neil -

Yes I recall that day... that one feature in the shoreline pulled big fish aside for most of the season and if you were 25 yards up or down the line you couldn't place the "dangle" correctly. I landed several big fish that tide and the two hander was key because the current and depth presents a serious challenge for any flyrod never mind a single hander.

Drop me a line when you're in town, we'll get out and find some fish together if I am not booked.

Thanks Juro,

We will certainly try and would look forward to meeting up.

As a complete novice on the forum, it is fantastic and a bit unreal to realise that I not only guessed correctly who you were, but you remembered a few minutes chat on the beach over a year ago, happened to be online and replied in half an hour!

From thousands of miles away, the shared fishing camaraderie also feels (almost) as good as the sort of day you had on the Cape.

Thanks, Neil
