Christmas Island Photos

In April I fished in Christmas Island. I can firmly say it is amongst the best fishing locations in the world. I caught 10 species in 5 days of fishing, and totalled about 113 fish.

I had a total of 28 GTs - yes, 28! The largest was 50lb, and I had two at 40lb and three at 30lb.
I had a 10lb+ Bonefish and a couple around 8lb. The average size Bone was very high, probably 3lb or so.
I also had a 62lb Wahoo - an incredible fish!

Here are some pictures

What a catch!

Wahoo on the fly? WOW! Yes, I'd like to know more specifics as well. Accomodations, guide, etc.

Thanks guys.
The guide was a chap called Mike Marao. I stayed in the Mini Hotel, but a better option on the island is the Villages. I'm not sure if Mike is one of the Village guides but if you book him directly you could no doubt manage it.

You need to get to Honolulu and then get a plane over to Kiritibati, Christmas Island.

That is amazing. I don't know about you but for me those would be 3 fish of a lifetime.

Wow is right, what a great trip. I spent 20 years trying to get a rainbow runner on a fly before landing two on Tracy's and my sail across the pacific. They are one beautiful fish, how many did you land? Maybe you should try Fanning Island next even better if that can be possible from the looks of your adventure. I figure there are about 200 islands in the pacific with fishable flats 3/4 of them unfished you just got to find a way to get to them. Congratulations on a great trip to Christmas Island.

I went 8 years ago. Man, I have to get back. That was my first experience with flats fishing. I wish I knew then what I know now. Vince, let's book it!
