Gaspe Spey Trip - Summer 2010

I'm going to be putting together a salmon trip to the beautiful Gaspe' region to fish with sponsor Quebec Sporting this year.

I'll be bringing an assortment of Spey gear and offering instruction during the stay. I am sure Ann will set us up for a great time.

Details are still bring worked out, but please reply if you are interested in such a trip.

I have a lot of things that would have to fall into place to do it but what the hell, I'll throw my name in the hat.

June 12th - 19th are out. Those are my Cape days.

Not in the cards for me. I get back from Scotland on the 1st and won't arrive Gaspé until the 12th. Another time.

Ice out in Maine happening already? Ann Smith has posted pics on facebook today that show things are progressing earlier than usual.

I think first week in June could be a 'perfect storm' for big fish and Spey fishing in the Gaspe.

I really hope this comes together!

Juro,

Your timing could be great. I've kept in touch with friends on the Gaspé all winter and they've hardly had any snow this year . . . compared to normal winters. I just kept hearing "it's all green".

I always look forward to a healthy run of fat springers. And if things are a little earlier this year, you might even have a chance with dead-drift dries. Should be in full swing when I arrive on the 13th.

Juro,

Even if you only get one other person to go don't pass up the opportunity. The first week of June is not a quantity but quality situation. Don't assume that the water will not be cold and high because of the lack of snow. In fact, don't pre determine anything and be prepared for everything.

I have fished somewhere on the Gaspe during the month of June for quite a few years and I get goose bumps just thinking of how wonderful each and every time has been.

Your in great hands with Ann as she will put you on the best water possible.
At that time of season the public on the York is just about as good as it gets and don't feel like you must have draw water to be successful. Stay low in the river and if they are coming through you will have a good shot at an aggressive fish. The full moon is on May 27 and should work out well this year.

If you have the time during the day light, especially bright sun as the fish will stay on the down river side below the shadow, go to the bridge at the head of tide on York. Sometimes it's a great sight to see what will be moving that night.

Have a great trip,

William

Some interest

Juro, I do have some interest in going. I do have a trip planned to the same area from June 25 -July 4. I have fished these rivers for the last two years. Do y-
ou have an estimated cost for the trip: Motel,Guide for 2 anglers, fishing access, and catch and release licience. I do know the rates for different pools on the 3 rivers. Will you be fishing all reserved water or fishing the open water. The open water is about $60 a day and the reserved is from about $80 to about $130 a day. Then you have to figure in the Outfitters fee. Total cost is a big factor for me. Thanks Art
