Oil Spill

As an angler and a biologist (well, biology teacher) and an armchair ichthyologist, I am about to crawl into a cave and hide. I cannot imagine how this will play out except cataclysmically. If you think Red Tide is bad...you ain't seen nothin' yet.

I weep for the Gulf Coast and its fisheries and the legions of people who depend upon them. The oil has entered the deep currents and will be too soon sweeping through the Florida Straights on its way to Scotland.

This will take decades to ameliorate, if it ever does.

Recquiescat in Pace, Gulf fisheries

There is no appropriate sanction against BP and Transocean that man has devised.

and with a president falling all over himself to pander to the "drill baby drill" crowd it's round and round it goes, and where it stops nobody knows.

POLITI«S ALERT

I have a different opinion than tea partiers who'd just as soon pin the greasy tail of an uncontrolled mega power on the nearest democrat - rather than crucify the real culprits. But since it's spring the last thing I want to do is debate politics on a flyfishing site. Let's not go there!
