Fantastic trip. After spending 3 hours in the airplane at the gate in Nassau my flight back was canceled. Got to spend an extra night in Nassau and go through the airport thing again today but back now. Tired but my eyes are still scanning the flats.

Walt - had a fantastic time. I got home around 2am and left for work a few hours later to dig out of the backlog, just got home again and haven't even unpacked. But that sounds like a picnic compared to your troubles. You should've hit the east side flats

I'll get some pics ready to post after a nap zzzZZZZzzzzZZZZ

Hey. I was at Acklins Island lodge the 5-13th. By chance were you guys the group that came up for dinner? I too, was delayed , then cancelled in Nas. Great trip, but brutal trip back.

back home

Hey Walt - Sorry to year that USAirways messed you up in NAS. My trip home was relatively smooth, fortunately. Flights were nearly full, but not jammed. Both flights to CLT and ROC were approximately on time, and my bag made it home.
A fun trip, with miles of wandering around nice flats trying to spot and catch some bones. Amazing that the vehicle held up to the abuse we gave it.
Did you stay at Orange Hill Inn again?

Gary,
USAir put the whole plane up at the Sheraton Cable Beach. Nice rooms but no flats out the window. I did go to the bar over the casino and enjoyed a coke and Cuban cigar as watched the fun at the tables below.

Juro,
I was too tired to hit anything including a couple of tall slinky women that approached me. Think they wanted what I had in my back pocket though. If they knew how little was there I doubt they would have paid me any attention.

Walt

Hello - Hope you had a good trip, we sure did. We didn't travel for dinner during our stay. Mostly because dinners were so good down at Felton's... the best conch fritters we'd ever had, grouper, lobster tail, etc.

Although travel was tough, I'd seen it worse on weekends during spring break

Walt - don't sell yourself short! I think they might have been after your Petersen's Spawning Shrimp! hehe

Hi Juro, It wasnt my intention to step on your thread. We had met some good guys and I just wanted to say hello. Yes we had great fishing down between Jamaica and Salinas. I could see the new lodge in the distance and it is certainly spectacularly located. Best of luck.

Ron

Not at all Ron, nice of you to follow up. I wish it was us, it would have been great to network with other anglers.

How did Montauk fish last fall?

Ron that was me and my buddies you met at AIL for dinner one evening. I hope the rest of your trip went well.

Weather improved and so did the fishing, although it was a little slower on average I thought.

Hey Juro, yes it would have been fun. Montauk had a strange fall last year. I happened to fish hard a stretch when the falsies were popping pretty good, but for the most part the fish were up at Fishers and RI. Plenty of bass and blues, but the albies were tougher than most years. Interestingly it was a tough year offshore for bigger yellowfins, but I was able to catch a bunch of peanuts on the fly which is always a blast. Ironically, there was the best Bigeye bite in 25yrs.

Hi Vince, glad to hear things picked up for you guys. We did pretty well considering, but it seemed pretty tough in general for most. I actually had plenty of time to drink in the Nassau airport (flight got cancelled) and spoke to a bunch of guys who fished other islands and they seemed to have done worse. How classic is it that Bob found your buddies plug. WHat are the odds!?! I knew things would pick up when the Sat I left there wasnt a cloud in the sky.

Tom was pretty happy about that plug! He considered swimming out there to retrieve it but it was pretty far out, so he didn't! Amazing that you found it! and retruned it!
