Nice film.
Great casting.
I think he moves the fly too fast though.

Look again - he's agitating the steelhead into vicious strikes with a strip technique. Very unusual for steelhead, but if you count the number of near misses it makes you wonder.

I see that there a lot of misses.
I think if he moved the fly a little slower he would get more hits.

Steelhead fishing is changing be it summer or winter fish. Maybe we practice what we have read and heard over the years and don't take the time to try new things. People around my neck of the woods look at me as if I'm crazy when I tell them Hood River winter fish will come to the surface for a waker if the water is low and clear. A few years ago I would not have attempted on top in winter but watched it done by two of the best up on the Sqagit. We need to try new ways some will pay off others will not.
Great vid and a nice famous river.

I like the swing vs nymphing comment about 1 minute in.

Anybody that can land multiple steelhead in a day on a fly is doing something right.

Personally I fish streamers like that for trout and half of the fun is seeing the big strikes (or misses). I've added trailer hooks to my flies in the last couple of years and the strikes are just as good, but now I hook up with probably 5 times as many fish.
