Uh-oh, Aklins is discovered!

Take a look at the NY Times for February 1, 2009.

http://travel.nytimes.com/2009/02/01...01Bahamas.html

Aklins has been high on my list of remote bonefishing distinations. I hope that I haven't missed the window of opportunity.

disaster

Oh My God, the word is out.
Spent a week with Fedel the past couple of years, enjoying the solitude of Acklins, and catching a few bonefish. Doesn't look like that will be the case anymore. Too bad.
Had hoped to revisit this year, but haven't been able to arrange it so far.

Nice, very NICE!

I trust Fedel sees this.

Just jumped on to post the very same article.... It's killing me to not go back this year.

The writer was pretty spot on the overall experience. Right down to breakfast on Saturday morning.

Don't worry guys. I don't think this article will have any negative impact on the solitude of Acklins.

I'll be on Acklins next month, and I'll report on the "hordes" of anglers! Actually, I doubt the article will have much effect, other than maybe a few more bookings for the lodges mentioned.

Off to Ragged Island very soon for two weeks--excited about the fishery, especially the bluewater, which I hope to hit very hard, weather permitting.
Talk about remote--Ragged makes Acklins look crowded.

I thought Sam's article was great and I would be surprised if Acklins was suddenly flooded with NYT readership. I think most of the times readership needs their Baristas. I'll be visiting in a March and will let you know. Last year there were 30 fisherman on the plane. I bet fewer than 10 this year.
