Gaitor keepers

I have lost so many gaitors that I have a collection of odd singles in my gear box. If you see me with one black and one brown or one grey and one green - you know what happened.

The other day out on the open atlantic with Bob Pink I swore I saw one of my gaitors floating in the waves... I lost one a few miles away the morning before!

I've often thought gaitors should come with keepers, like surfboards or skis. I think I'll act on an idea I had about two years ago and put one together. My idea is to use the thin bungee cord with a loop on one end and a clip on the other - the loop goes around the shin and the clip attaches to the gaitor. Real simple, replaceable clips although stainless, or better yet I wish the manufacturers would integrate the keeper into the gaitor design. Doubt it though, they'd sell a whole lot less.

Look for the post w/ pics in a few days... maybe we could sell them for $5 to help me cover site costs next year

Or else let's start a discussion, maybe my idea is not unique, there are probably many good ideas out there.

I know they have a hat keeper that is kinda the same thing. You may be able to modify it to fit this application. The hat one has a clip on both ends.

JOhn -

It's a tough concession to put those rubber pants on when shorts are so comfortable... I remember the tip rip and fishing shorts mid-day with huge fish on the line and 90 degree sun... >sigh<

Maybe its time to think breathable bootfoot waders. I got tired of all the problems with stocking foot waders and saltwater fishing. Got a pair of cheap Cabelas breathable bootfoot waders and they are the answer to all the stocking foot problems.

RE:Gaitor keepers

No can do for me, I need flexibility for footwear with my gore-tex waders. They cost way too much to be stuck with one boot style.

I wear:

Danner studded high top felts in rivers, particularly in the fall out in the pacific northwest. I wear short top felt danners in on freind's drift boats, my pontoon boat and in lakes.

Scuba boots on ocean sand, hardsole felt neoprene boots on rocks in the salt.

All with one pair of 'pants'.

They don't make boot foot that serves all my needs, unfortunately!
