Question Thomas & Thomas Vector ???

I just picked up a used above named rod in a 9 foot 9 weight. What can I expect from it? Does a 9 line load it adequately? As far as my experience level, I have used 8 & 9 weight rods for years. Thanks for any help.

Leo, I have a 7 weight vector and love it. I use it on the cape in the spring, but I have a 250 grain sinking line on it and use it for that...I also use a 7 weight Scott Eclips which is not as stiff and and has an 8 weight intermediate on it....so I can not comment on the use of the line in your question without that experience. It is a very fast rod though and I would think that it might perform better with one line up...but I am only guessing.

I have a 9 wgt and use 9 and 10 wgt floating and intermediate and a 300 grain QD line. Throws all the lines fine. The rod has a more progressive action rather than super fast IMO. It casts itself at mid distances. I'd suggest that you might want to upline to a ten weight line to start with.
