Bonefish season starts again soon

I am suffering from withdrawal, I have not been bonefishing since the spring.
Hopefully the hurricane season is coming to an end and I can get back out to the Caribbean.

I have spent the summer chasing Atlantic salmon with some success and my next trip is to the Gaspe next week.

However I have just booked my first trip for the new season of bonefishing.
In October I am off again to Los Roques.
Long sandy beaches with bonefish, cruising through the bait, looking for my floating gummy minnow.
Tarpon rolling in casting distance from the beach.
Schools of jacks and bonito busting bait onto the beach.
Unhooking pelicans that think my gummy minnow is real.

I think I can put up with that.

Pete,

summer bonefishing, in the Bahamas anyway, is much better than many people think. You do have to target them on the outside flats, but if anything, fish are less schooled upand it seems to me bigger oners are easier to come by.
As long as you have a viable plan for getting out in case of inclement weather, there's no reason not to bonefish in summer.

Hey Josko
For a number of years I fished the Keys during the summer months.
I eventually got fed up with thunder storms nearly every afternoon and being evacuated a couple of times because of hurricane warnings.

I agree it is possible to catch some good fish but when it gets too warm the fish leave the flats.
