ok, am I the only one with a black fur coat, white stripe down the back, and a pungent and foul odor this weekend? I went to Duxbury friday night...nada, then sat afternoon started at Scorton's...nada, Duxbury...nada, Weymouth...nada, and for the final insult Black's Creek, you guessed it... NADA!!!!!! damn, I feel like hanging up the rod, grabbing the over/under and shhoting some pheasant... hey, I just realized my gun club's preserve opened, I may go do just that. then I'll have some tying feathers as well!!! I hope you all did better than me over the weekend, but I doubt it, cuz when I talked to John Morin he had a lot of cold and exhasted(and not too satisfied) fisherman sitting around drinking coffee. Tom D

p.s. the one saving grace was the fact that I got to tool around in the yak a bit(forgot the damn rod holders though).

Tom -

It was sure a good weekend... if you like schoolies, big plus tides and cold weather. I haven't taken so much water over the top of my waders in a long time. I guess this is nature's way of saying "let it go, l-e-t i-t g-o!!!"

Only saw one big fish all weekend and that one was abused by the spin angler who decided to drag it 50 plus yards by the gills out of the water to the shore, measure it, and let it go (if you can call it that). The fish was 35-36" and half dead by the time the ordeal was over.

We had a good crowd there and were ready to get physical, but given my recent over reactions I bit my lip (no pun intended). In retrospect we should have said something, it's worth discussing the proper way to approach and educate such jerks.

Juro, was that the same jerk that was catching keepers in august? John said he acted afraid to touch the fish. I saw him do the same thing, when he dragged it to the beach, I just assumed he was keeping it, but he let it go(if you can call it that) Tom D

Tom, you are right ,it was the same guy from August. really ticked me off more than it should of ,I guess. He even asked me to land his fish for him this summer... I just said to him, "This is Chatham and we land our own fish here". Well... I 'll probably see him again, and he better hope that some of the locals don't see him do that because I know that some of them are not that understanding.take care.

One comment I wanted to make, someone mentioned "the guy from NJ"... well there was a group of four guys also from NJ who wanted to pound his brains in so it isn't a regional thing. Regardless of where he was from he was simply a jackass.

The other guys from NJ told me he wouldn't get out of their way with a 40" bass on, then dragged two big bass by the gill to the beach the day before putting his knee on a 38" fish to remove the hooks the day before.

These guys noticed our displeasure and went out of their way to discuss it with me. I think if anything started the entire angling population would have turned on the guy. Like John and everyone else, I was frustrated and we really should have tried to educate him... but it was clear that the only way to discuss the matter with him was with fists, judging by his personality (or lack thereof) and attitude.

There's a jerk in every bar.
