I just grabbed this off the March newletter at the CCA website.
*****************************************************
CCA VA convinced the Virginia Marine Resources Commission to set regulations to comply with a re-quest from the Atlantic States Marine Fishery Commission to reduce the take of large striped bass by 14 percent for 2000. Failure to abide by the ASMFC request could have meant no striped bass season in 2000 for VA fishermen.

Great news Terry - somehow I missed this yesterday (crazy day!) but it's always reassuring to hear great organizations like CCA are having an impact once again. Makes sense to reduce harvest so near to the spawning grounds.

Those photos of purse seining schools of spawning stripers (if you have ever seen them) are pure carnage. On the bright side, the fishery sure has made a comeback!
