Seven weight rods are designed to handle large dry flies and many sizes of wet flies and small poppers. Effective with floating and sinking lines, seven weights are used to catch bass, steelhead and large trout. These rods can handle a wide variety of fishing situations effectively for either large or small fish. In saltwater applications seven weights are primarily used for bonefish, redfish and schoolie stripers when calmer conditions allow.
