Anyone headed to St. Maarten early December ?

I have the last of my vacation days for 2007 open and after being blown out in the Abacos by TS Noel I am thinking of booking a week to St. Maarten...

Anyone heading that way... let me know.. my plans could change if someone wants to try for baby Tarpon or Snook somewhere else... but I am pretty close to booking on Monday or Tuesday...

I will be in Ascension Bay 8th-15th. If these days suit and you are keen on fishing there drop us a PM or email.

Hey Mark !

Well you are correct... I don't give up.... SXM does have some good fishing but the locations that I have found are right in the main city and very noisy with lots of traffic but I need a trip to make up for the last one.

I just put this note out there to see if anyone else is heading to the Caribbean in early December and we could share some expenses etc... or they could talk me into another spot.. but I have to book soon.

I have not seen the flies yet... will let you know when they arrive.

Chris(figen) may be still in the Abacos... hope he is doing well..
Can't wait for his next report.

F,
If you would like to stop by ST. Croix I can help you out with lodging, some transportation and where to try dipping your fly! I waded a beach flat out east on Friday and landed two baby tarpon and one small permit...just another day in paradise! I free up in early Dec so should be available...

Thank you VirginFly

thank you so much for your kind offer... but time constraints will not allow me to travel to other islands... stuck on SXM this time but I will remember St.Croix for the next trip...

Thanks again

Unhappy St, Maarten

Frank,
This island had the worst fishing of all the Caribean Islands that I've visited. Though I brought tackle I didn't use it during my visit in 2001. The only area where fishing was recommended was the"Butterfly Farm". What a name! They claimed that you could catch small tarpon there. Hope that you have better luck.

Hi Trevor.....

In the Abacos.. it was a combination of the tropical storm and some really bad luck..

The storm messed up the first few days then I had a few days when I could work the flats...

another guy was there and he would go left and hit some and I would go right and get nothing... I should have followed him around ! grrrrr one day I saw 4 people on a flat which was very rare and only one bonefish caught so they were tough during that week.

I hit a couple of fun cuda so it wasnt a total loss but it kills me to go back to a flat that I thought I knew so well and get nothing....

But I kept thinking ... here I am in the middle of a beautiful bonefish flat and not working soooooo....

Looking forward to SXM... hope I have better luck..
