BoneClave Report

Boarded the Debit early Sunday morning and headed out with Capt. Jim Miller and 1st Mate Todd(VtLoon) in our quest for the elusive albie.
We made contact with Josko who gave us intel as to where we should start looking.
Jim hooked up first with a bluefish.
We then went over to a popular spot on Martha's Vineard and tried our luck.
The tide was outgoing and Jim struck first with a hard fighting albie!!!
What a fight the fish put up. They never want to give up.
We then went to another spot and saw huge bait balls . I had a fish on but lost it when it wrapped the line around the motor.
Todd , caught a nice fat striper. What a day to be on the water.
I want to thank Jim and Todd for having me as a guest on Jim's boat.
I'll be thinking of this day all Winter long. FishHawk

I was chasing those pesky tunoids with the other clavers on Sunday and Monday... man they're frustrating!!! Sunday I hooked into a big albie only to discover that when I bought my clear int line nd backing at the show a few years ago, the guy used a braided connector instead of an albright knot. (which e so lesson learned... if somone puts line + backing on a spool for you ... watch them!!!so I lost an albie and my new line!!!

Monday I hooked a bonito but it shook loose when it saw the boat.

weird that we didn't see a single bluefish the whole time.

Missed you all

Hi Guys,

I was running late coming back from Florida Sunday and was too beat to pack and drive down Sunday night. Headed down Monday and hit the ramp by afternoon. When I went to the back of the truck to disconnect wires and prepare to unload the boat I noticed it was soaked in differential oil. My front seal on the rear differential rusted through spilling most of the oil on the boat, trailer and back of the vehicle.

Well I wasn't going to let that stop me so I loaded the boat anyway and dumped it in the water. It was low tide so I trimmed the motor up to get through the shallows. Once I got through them the trim pump wouldn't work to trim the motor down for running speed. I almost said screw it I'll idle out to the island! Even if I have to fish the jetties. Well after a few minutes I decided theres too much going wrong here and to return, load the boat and try and get my truck repaired so I could get home.

I was there in spirit, hope you all had a great time.

Greg.

Greg sorry to hear of your troubles. Sounds like you've had a rough few weeks. I was thinking of you during the clave and your spirit was definately present. Too bad you didn't contact a claver when your boat went down. I'm sure we could have found a way to get you out there.
You'll just have to save up all the good karma you've accumulated while endoring hardship. You never know, but I've heard whisperings of a Rhody clave. There's a bunch of albies that went exploring eastward that will have to pass through RI waters on their way south. I'm predicting albies until Halloween if there are no big storms.
