Be Prepared

If anyone is planing on hitting any of the back beaches, you might want to consider bring spinning gear. This is the time of the year that the fish may blitz the beach without warning at any moment. For anyone who as not experenced this, it is awesome.

I don't get it... why would blitzes require spingear? Inquiring minds want to know.

RE:Be Prepared

My absolute BEST Fly cast is probably less than 100'. If a blitz happens 150' off shore ... I still bring a surf stick to the Outer Beaches, but it usually sits in the sand spike.

After last Saturday though ... I guess I'm still not ready to pull a Juro & sell all my spin gear at a yard sale!

RE:Be Prepared

Actually, I just bought a light spin rod w/ damaged tip for $20. I replaced the tip but need a reel for it. I plan on using it for any flycasting impaired folks I might happen to take fishing -or- use it next year to catch fluke for the table. I really messed up, this was a bumper fluke year and I didn't take advantage.

I have the feeling Bigcat saw some huge action on the back beach and couldn't reach them last night...

RE:Be Prepared

Juro,
It was not on the beach but in the middle of the Canal, looked like a few cars went off the bridge.
I plan on hitting the Race for a bit sometime this weekend and if you get a strong SW wind in you face,
you will be glad to have a spin rod when your more then a hundred miles from home and there is a feeding frenzie going on and all you can do it watch.
The fat lady is warming up and I am very excited.
Cloumbus weekend has been very good to me on the beaches. If you want a chance at a big fish...... THE SEASON IS NOW.
