Question Seeking Newport, RI lodging info

I'm on vacation the week of Labor Day. As usual, I have no specific plans yet, but Kathy and I are considering the Newport, RI area. Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent hotel/motel/motor inn within a half-hour drive or so of Newport? Thanks!

The farther you can cast, the easier it is for a fish to take you into your backing. I seldom see my backing . . .

The Ho Jo in I think Middletown is not bad. It is either in Middletown or Newport I am not sure. Anyway it is on Rt 114. we stay there quite often when we fish in the area.

There are plenty of food joints around the area and the last time we stayed there the price was not bad

The B&B option would be nice for a couple. Do a google search they are all over the place. There are a few right in Newport that are reasonable especially AFTER the jazz festival. During that weekend they are astronomically priced and get it too.

In fact there are a lot of options once the jazz fest weekend is over. Everything from the International Hostel to the Waterfront Marriott should have space now I would assume.
