Bean Park Spey Clave, August 25th

Having a small, informal Spey Clave in Bean Park, Paris, Ontario on August 25th.

This site describes the goings-on. Please excuse the encoding problem that has scattered A's and other crap about the site. Me and the ISP are having a little discussion about their choice of encoding. It should be UTF-8. Anyway, apart from that, it's operational.

Hopefully we'll get the encoding straightened out in a day or so.

Hope you can make it . . .

Added an agenda and a few other bits.

Still working with the ISP to figure why the encoding is still a problem.

Added more information to the guest list and the agenda, plus improved the maps.

Like to thank all those who helped make the bean Park Spey Clave a success, including Jack Cook of the Irish Angler who journeyed out Carnation, Washington with an armload of Guideline and Scierra rods for us to play with, Rick Whorwood and Neil Houlding for their casting demos, Bob Mackenzie for supplying the Sage rods, Grindstone Angling for supplying CNDs, and With A Fly shop for sending out a Grey and a Hardy rod to complete the set. Also like to thank the other stores who helped in the promotion of the event.

We had a very good turnout despite the grim weather forecast that no doubt encouraged some to stay home. Everyone hung in there despite the thunder, lightning, and the downpour, which threatened to turn the park into a lake. We havenít had any appreciable rain for weeks, so the weatherman decides to make up for it on clave day! Neilís big blue tarp saved some from a complete soaking and allowed the demos to proceed.

Iíll be putting up some photos over the next day or so and if you have any you wish to submit, please email them to me at pcharles at mountaincable.net.

Speaking of rain, somebody left a Simms rain shell behind so contact me if itís yours and Iíll get it to you.

Peter,

Thanks to you and all the rest who organized the Bean Park 'clave. It's always a great opportunity to hear all the news and to work on technique with the benefit of good advice!

And thanks for finding my rain jacket...

Ian.
