11/4 CT Coast: Stratford to Old Lyme

Kathy and I checked a few spots along the CT coast Saturday afternoon. We tried the lower Housatonic river (two small stripers), the jetty at Hammonasset beach (one flatfish of some type) and the DEP dock on the lower CT river (one small striper and some hickory shad). No surface activity, not much bait, and more birds at MacD's than at the beach. Oh well, at least Kathy finally caught a striper this season. Highlight of the trip was at the DEP dock: several other fishermen, nobody catching anything, and Kathy pulls out another striper. Then just after sunset the shad made an appearance. Feisty buggers were hitting nonstop for a few minutes -- two or three hits per cast. Not a bad way to end the day.

Quentin,

You're hardcore! And giving Bill D. a run for his money this year.

Will the next report be from VA or straight to N.C.?

Glad to hear someone caught this weekend. Can't beat those bright shinney November Schoolies, or so I am told!
