put the canoe in at Cove Road, Bass River at the beginning of the outgoing tide. The area was loaded with bait (silversides and sandeels), but no sign of stripers.
Headed over to Poppy, waded the back (bay) side. Managed three schoolies before heading home. Nice to feel the pull of the first fish of the year, but was wishing for more.
We passed Cove rd but decided to concentrate on more active tide flows down river. The area around the grass island west of Cove Rd. produced some fish on Friday.
Glad you got some action on Poppy. Won't be long now before the whole area is exploding with slapping linesiders!
Hey Juro,
I skipped Bass River and found them elswehere this morning! - 3 fish over 30" on three casts, and then a ton more fish in the mid-20s. I had a whole season today. Glad I skipped the first half of the work day...I had the whole place to myself!
YOWSA! That's some nice fishin' Must be living right. Better attend the next clave with that kind of luck, but you'll have to beat "Pope" Hawkeye for the title
