Poppy and Black's Creek report from 5/13

Hello All,

This post is a little late but I just signed up for this board and I wanted to post some info and introduce myself.

Fished Poppy from 5 AM to 8 AM on Saturday morning (5/13). My Dad and I broke out our flyrods and got skunked (threw some clousers, deceivers an a herring pattern all on an intermediate sink line). We did however see a number of stripers taken on live herring. Another gentleman (real nice guy) was throwing plugs and he picked up 3 fish (one around 26 inches). I was just thrilled to be out there for the first time this year. My first fish of the year will come in time.

Fished Black's Creek from my kayak (spinning gear) on Sunday. Fished from 11 AM to 2 PM (low-tide around 2 PM). Had one pick up and drop on a sluggo. A number of other fishermen were there too. Didn't see anyone move anything.

Hopefully you will all see more posts from me in the near future. I live in NH and I don't get down the Cape all that often but I do hit the NH coast and Joppa/Plum Island on a bi-monthly basis. My parents also live on the South Shore so I sometimes fish the North River and the Cohasset area.

That is all for now...

Welcome Mike and thanks for the report! It looks like your coverage area is ideal for stripers through the season. You'll get the tinker mackeral blitzes up north, the mid-sized pogie action on the south shore, and if you hit poppy and the surrounding areas a bonito or albie on a fly rod could be in you future this summer/fall!

I hope you can join in on our conclaves. I think you'll find that this is a great community of anglers to know. I know I have!

Looking forward to a great season,
Juro

Juro,

Thanks for the welcome. I would really love to join you in a conclave this summer. Unfortunately, I cannot make the conclave to Monomoy. I will however keep an eye out for any other conclaves in the near future.

Thanks again for your welcome and support.

-Mike
