Hardy "spitfires"

I'm a newbie to the site, but I'm also editor of the magazine Classic Angling. Usually reliable sources say that this board had some stuff on Hardy reels with a spitfire finish that weren't anything of the sort. I'm writing a story about this, so any information that anyone has would be very valuable. My understanding is that Hardy only used this finish during the WW2 years. Thanx.

Dime-a-dozen

Lately Hardy reels with the "spitfire" finish are just all too common Unscrupulous dealers??? Perhaps,, but all too common none the less. You have a PM with a site that you can search as this topic is pretty hot.
