Acklins or Crooked?

I am new to the forum, having stumbled on to it while doing some research for an upcoming DIY trip to Crooked Island or Acklins. Great site and great members!

I am looking for input that will help my group (5 adult males experienced at DIY trips to Eluethra, Abacos, Bimini, Alaska, Fla Keys, Ten Thousand Islands, Boca Grande) decide whether to go Crooked or Acklins in April 2007. We'll be there, just don't know which yet. Our initial thought was to stay and fish Crooked for bones, but then Acklins caught my eye. Then, compounding my distraction, I found this site and the threads re Acklins.

Acklins or Crooked? I'm hoping to draw on the collective knowledge of the forum re attributes of both, e.g. suggestions re where to stay/eat (or where not to), where to rent a car (if advisable), where to rent a boat (if available), whether to bring in our own food, etc. Typical DYI issues. I have an pretty good idea of the basics, but there is no substitute for info from someone who has actually been there/done that.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I'd get in on Juro's planning, they go every year.

Very basic, one store, one road, one gas station...a couple million bonefish.
Felton's house is the place to stay and truck to rent.

You can e mail me with detailed questions as well if you like.

Bob

The accomodations support four in beds and one on a sofa which I took and found quite comfortable (I'm about 5'8") with the proper back angle pillows. The beds are very comfortable and there is AC in those rooms but with the sea breezes no need for it in my book.

Drop me a PM and I will help you set it up. Or better yet, you might consider working something out with Bob Bergquist - he's very connected with the local guides and knows the scene inside and out down there. He's in the other unit of the same duplex.

Either of us can be reached by PM.
