Phil - I was down there - hitting East Beach at 6:30, and I got skunked. Only fish caught that I was aware of, was one Blue by a chunker on East Beach - and it was a Blue. There were a few Skates caught - but I struggle with considering them "fish". Things were pretty quiet. I must have been behind the blitzes. The guy that caught the Blue indicated that there were no signs of actively feeding fish - and that was my experience last week when my Grandson and I picked up Blues on East Beach.

Dave...I'm in your league Went to the Cape today...all bayside...started at Payne's creek at dawn and went west.....Rendevous point...Sandy Point...Scorton Creek and Sandwich harbor...a total stinkeroo...but a great day to be out. Thought that it was going to be a great day...at Payne's there were flocks of birds working over bait......sad to say...no fish under them...rest of the day I watched the birds sleeping on shore and people walking their dogs on the beach. Talked with a few locals, who caught a few schoolies at dawn at Scorton....everyone else skunked as well, by 2 pm there wasn't a fisherman to be seen anywhere.....of course I ran into a guy who said it was hot yesterday....I think that I'm going to change my handle to "yesterday" Tide was poor....low at 9:30...not a great tide for a day at bayside....best action I'm told is dawn and dusk and dead during the day. At least you got skunked at only one location.....to be a "master", you have to get skunked at 5 Hope you get into them before the snow flies.
"Yesterday" aka Paxton

Hi Paxton,

I fished much the same area you did but at dark (can't really call 5pm night) I was more on a fact finding mission than actually fishing and found the closer to the canal the bigger and more numerous the schoolies.

My "home-waters" of B. Harbor had no fish and honestly I think that may be the first time in several months that I haven't caught at least a schoolie there. I figured the fishing would be much better since it finally seems like the herring have dropped out of the ponds. Quivet creek had some very small schoolies, and thats where I found the most (though not a lot) bait.

The backside beaches have a lot of fish still -small at least the ones I caught. My new theory is that the fish are sticking to their migration routes more or less.

South County was quiet for Adrian and me yesterday. Sure, we caught some fish behind Napatree, but all of the beaches that we checked out between Central and Napatree had zilch going on for bird or fish activity. Zilch.

Not what we were expecting for this time of year and under those conditions. Perhaps the best is still yet to come. Gannets were present in low numbers, but not dive bombing the water....they were sitting around waiting for something to happen like the rest of the birds.

A boat or other watercraft was needed to get into the fish yesterday.
