South beach gap?

How is the gap between South Monomoy and South beach working out this year?

It has effected the tides. Gone are the strong rush of currents. More like a slow rise. FishHawk

Hi Stevo.....SB is closing in significantly...can walk across on a low tide. Additionally just before J buoy....the sand bar has expanded and is getting closer to North Monomoy as well. A lot of structural changes....biggest effect so far is the strength of current which has deminished in comparison to last year. It's hard to tell the impact on fishing as the many cold fronts and rain we have had this year has kept the water cold (about 58 degrees as of last week) and thus has delayed the fish coming up onto the flats for a significant amount of time.

Stevo, good current with moon tides. Lots of changes, but as Fishhawk and Paxton indicated, lots of changes and the entrance is getting shallow. We shall see what we shall see.

Are you and Jamie coming over in September? See if Matt and Silas are up for the fall blitz. Austin and Colin did well this month.

I'd say there's a very good chance that Jamie, Silas, Matt and I will be over at the end of September. It would be great to see you all again.
