Franklin County is hoppin'

The Rivers and streams around here are fishing very well. There are Shad in the Connecticut and the Deerfield. The trout fishing has been close to phenomenal. If the rain leaves us along for a while and the temps don't spike too quick the next two weeks will be outstanding.

What lines, flies and presentations do you recommend? I have had luck fishing sinking lines with bonefish flies on the hangdown below a point with a kettle downcurrent in the Merrimac.

You are right on the money. I use a sinking line and modified crazy charlies. Bright orange, pink, chartreuse with no wings. Just get the fly to the fishes level. I know that they are not flys but 1/32 shad darts are hard to beat and are lighter then many clousers.

The ones in the Mac up here run 3-6 pounds (est). I plan to run a very light Spey outfit.

What percentage do you hook on the swing verses the hang down? I am almost 100% hangdown but I've only done it a couple of times. Less than 3 miles from my office now...
