I love the flow of materials from the hook-eye back. The look of your deer collar is what I will strive in the next batch of such flies I tie!

Deadly! And here is it's distant cousin with a tail, the bunny rat..

The article is several years old but I still use the fly a lot, and experiment with the deer hair and colors (e.g. olive, purple, natural). One variant trims the deer hair tight on the bottom leaving a crown on the top, making the fly bob and weave more actively in current which seems to drive the summer run steelhead a little nuts and I've had some ferocious hits.

I`am reall looking forward to letting it slide over my home pool, just when it`s getting dark. Usually i use the Barret Bimbo during night time fishing, but casting that fly whith a 7 weight is no fun.
Deer hair and rabbit strips works like hand in glove. At least when it comes to tying flies where noise and sillouette (and a quicke tie) is important.
