That brings up a good question....in the same situtation, what would YOU do....try to be as motionless/quiet as possible, or put the afterburner to the paddles??? I would think the latter would be more likely to trigger a vicious strike, but that's just the impression I've gotten from all the "Shark Week" shows I've watched on the Discovery Channel.
