Sci. Anglers lines

Has anyone had a chance to test the (new?) Sci Anglers sink tips? I think they're designated in grains like the Teeny lines and also for freshwater and saltwater.

RE:Sci. Anglers lines

Luis -

On your inquiry I searched them out lately. They appear to be another great choice in the list of this style of line for 2001.

The popularity of the Cortland QD around here over the last couple years, preceded by the T series lines, has produced a few new options.

The airflo sink head line is guaranteed for 5 years against cracking due to different fundamental material choice in the manufacturing process.

Jeff Roop mentioned that the replacement QD is improved over the earlier line.

The new SA line you mentioned is worth trials this year.

Rio Deep Sea has replaced a lot of QD lines in our region last year.

When I get a chance I will write a letter to each manufacturer requesting a sample line for hands-on testing this season. It would be good to determine which line is the best choice for it's respective application and share that information here.

RE:Sci. Anglers lines

None of these are really new. Sci. Anglers invented them about 15 years ago. They were basically a floating or intermediate running line fused to a 30 foot sinking head. The lines were rated in sinking classes (class I, II, II, IV, V) instead of grains. Orvis started selling them as the Depth Charge line about 10 years ago and they began rating them in grains when sold as Orvis lines but continued to rate them in classes when sold as Sci. Angler lines. Then everyone started making them and rating them in grains, so Sci. Angler is doing so now.

While I have no doubt other manufacturers are making comparable lines, I'm a firm believer in the Sci-Angler/Orvis lines and don't even bother with the others anymore.
