I was there 2 years ago. Really amazing place for fly fishing! Calm and wild.
I had only 5wt travel rod with me becouse I knew nothing about fishing there I just bought tickets 2 days before with my wife and go to Cuba in Poland we say "in dark". Fly fishing was biside all another.
For bones the best places I think are Las Salinas laguna and Los Jardines de la Reina islands (not tried). First place are cheapest solution (mainland Cuba).
There are also tarpons in rivers most know is Hatiguanico river close to Las Salinas- Zapata peninsula. I didn't try it too.
Also funny is cathing inshore everywhere you are. My fly fishing story ended when big permit took all my line out there. I've never forget that music of the reel...
This year I was in Thailand. Forget it in comparation to Cuba (about flyfishing).
This year I hope to come back Cuba good equipped more experienced to talk with one of fish...
Greetings from Poland!
Konrad
