Want to fly fish lake Toho Orlando..HELP !!

I am going over to orlando from scotland for the first 2 weeks of april and fancy giving the bass a try. Has anyone fished this area with the fly or anything else for that matter. Is it possible to fish from the shoreline or pier/marinas etc..
Any info will be gratefully received!!

I've not fished Toho but the Bassmasters is being held there this week-end and they are getting some big largemouths! Looked like locals casting from piers etc. Shoreline looked like it could be difficult - having to push through a couple of miles of drowned grass to find clear water and steer clear of the Gators

Hopefully a few more with more direct knowledge will chime in but it looks like an awesome fishery.

i fished toho a few years ago. i don't think that there is any fishing from shore. you can rent a boat, but the area is very decieving and you could get lost in no time. i strongly suggest a guide. the marina does offer guides and i did meet 1 who was a fly fishing guide, but i do not have any info on him. about an hour east is the ocean and i believe that there is a lot of opportunities bot in the salt in the titusville area and red fish in the rivers. good luck

I just came back from Orlando and took a trip to Lake Toho. There is very limited bank access around Lake Toho. The fishing pier off the north end of the lake provides fishing opportunities although its not terrific for fly fishing. Locals surprisingly call this area "The Pier at the North End of the Lake". They have three feeders at the pier used to feed the sunfish and catfish " Big Sunfish" and the Bass will be nearby in April. If you take a look at a Florida map find Neptune road. Most of the bank fishing is limited to the boat ramps. There is also limited access off Lakeshore Drive Northwest of the pier. Let me reemphasise difficult to fly fish. Your heading up at the perfect time of year for Bass I would highly recommend getting a guide.

You also have terrific redfishing opportunties that are only 45 minutes away in the Cocoa Beach area. The Banana and Indian River Lagoon system, Mosquito Lagoon contain giant Redfish. You may also have some opportunities for snook, lady fish, jack's and sea trout.

Good Luck.
