Winston BL5 Repair: Good Service!

All,

My Winston BL5 10 wt just arrived home after a stint on the repair bench at Winston.

I lost the tip of this rod on a monster bluefish here in NH this summer. I lost the tip on my best day of the year. It was my best day even though I had to fish with 4/5 of a rod for much of the morning!

Anyway, Winston did a great job of replacing the tip. I did not break the tip. It slid off of my rod right before the monster blue bit through the 50 pound flouro leader that I was using. The rod tip sank to the bottom of the ocean.

Even though Winston has a policy of not replacing "lost rods" they graciously replaced the tip for free. I was impressed.

They also fixed some cracked epoxy around one of the rod ferrules. I must admit that I cracked it while trying to get 2 sections of the rod "unstuck".

I was very tough on gear this year.

FYI and a positive plug for Winston service.

Regards,

Mike
