RE:YAKBONE Clave this weekend!

Chris,

I would concur with Al. In fact, Redington I think has an entire package deal for around $150 which includes everything, except flies, vest and waders to get started.

Just a word of caution. The Redington Red Start rod is very different than the Red Fly. I've seen the packages John mentions with both models. Go with Red Fly. The other is junk.

RE:YAKBONE Clave this weekend!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep an eye out. The only problem I have now is were to pick up a new rig. Does anyone know of any good stores in the Boston area? It seems
like mail order is the only real way to get the inexpensive fly stuff.

Gang,

I am packing it in for the day. I am heading to A&P to get the Utensil items and then getting my stuff together. I will see everyone who is coming at 5:00am. By the way, they are predicting rain for the morning hours but clearing skies by late morning........

Everyone have a safe trip down !

Chris -

I was only half serious about the FF thing but am very glad you decided to come back from the dark side [img]http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif" border="0" align="middle">

If you can't find a setup I will bring a spare. No worries and see you there.

GregO -

Health problems? There are no bathrooms out there! <img src="http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif[/img] Please use your best discretion.

RE:YAKBONE Clave this weekend!

Juro - Thanks! I've got to attend a family wedding tonight in Boston. As long as I'm back by midnight, I'll plan on making the trip down in time for the 5 a.m. meeting. At 4 a.m. what's a reasonable time estimate from Exit 10 (S. Duxbury/Kingston) on Rt 3? I'm guessing 30-40 minutes???

Assume it's worth fishing the "near" side...? I don't want to put anyone out given what appears to be a favorable a.m. tide.

Thanks,
Tod

Mike and I will bring some spin gear for fluke, a bucket, a cooler with ice, I'll help with filleting, and we can bring a back packing stove but I don't think it will be up to the challenge of cooking for a group.

That exploded into a 15 man clave in a heartbeat. Even if the fish don't show, we ought to have a grand ol' time fryin' scup and fluke for lunch. I forgot to mention WASABI!

There are definitely school bass in the area, a cow or two, lots of scup and fluke, some blues, a spanish mack or two and some bonito. I don't know which will make an appearance and which will not, but as long as we make the appearance it should be a great time.

See you all there!

So, I picked up a Scientific Anglers kit that seems pretty decent. A lot better than some of the others I have seen. See you guys in the am.

Been lerkin and working too much this summer. Count me in , I'm trying to get the in-laws boat ,but we will see. I'll be coming in from the Cotuit side . Watch out for the bird cops who come around asking for your Audubon pass on busy weekends. If I can snag the old mans boat look for and old yellow hull and I'll help move people. Jim O

RE:YAKBONE Clave this weekend!

dOh! I can't pick up the dory that time of morning due to guests at the cottage. I'll be bringing my one-man pontoon boat instead (unfortunately). This can be towed back to the launch by any small canoe or yak so that someone else can row it over. The crossing is very short. I'll be happy to take the shuttle helm to let Craig or whomever brings a shuttle boat to let them fish.

It will slow things down a little but I hear there may be an extra canoe showing up anyway. Hopefully it will pick up the slack.

Jim O - we'll be looking for ya! (Thanks a million in advance)

Juro

RE:YAKBONE Clave this weekend!

Scup can be caught on squid (bait)
I've also caught them jigging a shiny lure like a deadly dick.

One was to access Dead Neck at cotuit and be legal is to launch at Prince cove and back the car on the grass back where the road meets rt 28.

It will be long paddle (very long).
