Distance

Morning,

What do you find fair, as distance between each angler fishing the same pool.

Or it differs depending if they are fishing Spey or Single handed ?

Is it a problem on your waters, or do most anglers respect "rotation!?

What if you are planning to fish "Dry Fly" ( working your pool up river)?

Ann

Between legal anglers ? It hasn't really been a problem in the past here in Quebec. Rotation through Quebec pools has been a model for the World !
Between legal anglers and any illegal "supplementery" rods - AT LEAST 150 feet !

Distance

On the picture you showed I would say that they are too close for my liking. I think at least another 30 ft. between them would be required.
So long,
Tom.

When fishing the private beats in Scotland you get plenty of water for yourself that is what you pay the money for. It is usual to have at least a side of a pool to yourself.

On the association waters 30yds is usually the minimum as when the fly swings you do not want to catch the angler below you waders, do you. Simple answer minimum of a cast distance.

Like Malcolm, I think casting distance, or about 30 yds-100' is about right.

Hi Ann,

Congratulations on the awards. You are an asset to the Gaspe and a great asset to us out of towners.

As far as distance, I personally like about 2 kilometers.

What you have to rotate In GASPESIE

Ann I am with Salar 33 on this one

more than 2 km is quite fine give or take a couple of inches

Here on the North Shore no such thing known as rotating the pools

2km sounds good to me- but in popular areas of Newfoundland 10 m is generous. I've seen people almost shoulder to shoulder - I don't bother fishing. Attached are a couple of the Exploits on an uncrowded day
