NESFR - Juro Mukai - Tue Oct 11

Even though most of us aren't ready to admit it, the season is winding down and its time to kick off the 2005/2006 season of the New England Saltwater Fly Rodders. The next club meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct 11 at NECC in Haverhill, MA. Meeting gets underway around 6:30PM.

This month's guest speaker is Juro Mukai who most of you all know. Juro will be presenting on fly-fishing for stripers from the beach and will be available to discuss his line of custom designed two-handed fly rods. As usual, there will be refreshments available, as well as a raffle.

Everyone is welcome at these meetings.. they are a great way to get through the off season, meet some new fishermen and learn some new flies, tips and techniques through club members and our great guest speakers.

For more information on the club, driving directions, and details on upcoming meetings, please visit the club website at:

http://www.neflyrodders.org

Thanks,

-- Tom

custom designed rods?

What are these custom designed rods of Juro's? A new venture?

I notice no mention of the Atlantis rods on the Japanese CND website...

What could this all mean

Thanks for the intro Tom; it will be my extreme pleasure to hang out again with the gang. I had an awesome time last year.

I won't be focusing entirely on rods as I will be talking about reaching new levels of ablity to cover waters where customary gear and/or techniques would be too limited. This includes big surf, ripping inlet currents, wind, and big flies and fish.

I'll be talking about stuff that has worked (as well as what has not) in terms of fishing as well as casting. Inevitably this includes some discussion about rod design as it facilitates casting.

I hope to demystify the relatively new art of two-handed overhead casting for striped bass. In fact the majority of principles apply to all casting, however some are accented by the use of two sources of power on the rod.

If weather permits I'd like to find an outside location for some demonstration to reinforce the points on the slide show so dress appropriately. The outdoor portion will be optional at the end of the talk for those who would rather not extend to the parking lot.

In any case, I look forward to seeing you tonight.

B/A - It means the website is a placeholder while the new site is being reworked by the new team, and if you're interested the 'National Enquirer' is hiring

Weekly World News is more my style.

"Cape Cod fisherman derives lost book of Bible from knotted fly line."
