OC - Happy Birthday Bro

Well it sounded like a very big year indeed for you OC, and I suspect an excellent birthday in store for you as well today.

Happy birthday and hopefully we can hook up for some fishing later in the month.

Thanks Juro,

With a beautiful new wife and son this year I don't feel as old as I look. God I think I'm 55 years old today! I aplogize to my dear friends who I know at times are disapointed that I am finding little time to steelhead fish over the last year or so. But I think about my steelhead brothers and the fishing everyday.

For my birthday I flew down to Kemah, Texas and looked at a boat. Not just any boat but a beautiful 44 foot Mason cutter sailboat. This boat completed a circumnavigation of the world last year and has been totally redone for another trip around. The owners were wonderful the boat was everything we have looked for and damn if I didn't put a deposit down on her. Will be surveyed this week if all is well she will be trucked up to Seattle. Then we will begin the process of completing out fitting her and sailing her hard in all conditions. Then we will be off for 4 years of circumnavigating the worlds oceans. It is then I will finally get time to fish on unknown flats around the world. What is kind of funny is that the old owners of this cutter have left the sea to take up fly fishing and will be coming up to steelhead fish with Tracy and me. Anyway not a bad b-day gift eh! Juro you are always welcome around this house and our rivers.

If you sail past Scotland give me a shout, Plenty of experience in sail boats from mushroom to navigator via cook. I can also guide for salmon.

Come to think of it you had better not pass Scotland.

Happy Birthday OC. And congrats on the boat, looks like just what you had in mind.

Think I'll go pour a finger or two for a toast to the "ancient" mariner.

And a great thanks to all of you! It has always been so much fun reading what everyone iis doing in their fly fishing life.

Willie, We were at one time thinking of just keeping the sailboat I have now which is a 32 foot Rhodes and shipping her to Boston. Then sailing across to your neck of the woods. But with the Euro nation as it is now it costs so much to have a boat over 6 months there as they will sales tax you on what your boat is worth. But who knows I would love to sail into the nearest port to your home waters and invite you for a sail and a Gin & Tonic American style which is in a very tall glass, tons of ice, a lime slice and 2 shots of good gin.

Hey Brian,

We are going to take Sinktips drift boat with us. I hear there are some really good rivers to float on the N. Korea/ China border. Big ocean going fresh water fish that come to a waker.

Hey and I just found out I'm only 54!
