Miramichi

I hear the water is unseasinably high on the Miramichi. Has anyone fished the Cains recently? I'll be going up next weekend and would appreciate being kept informed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I haven't been up there, but I've talked to several people who have or are there now. As of the middle of this past week the Cains was out of its banks and considered unfishable by most. If they get no more rain this coming week should be quite good. It was the week I was supposed to go to the Little Southwest, but canceled out back when they had no water! Most everyone feels that the late season run has not really started yet, so you might also get into some bright fish if it starts this week.

JR Spey,

Thanks for the info. If the Cains has water at his time of year, its a good bet it will have fish. I love that river in the Fall.

Well honestly, I have never seen the fishing like this before on any river . It was really something, i'll never forget it! The fish were not showing at all, one maybe 2 jumps all day....but they were there...i'm heading back up next week, i have the week off, so i'll be hitting the Cains then heading to the Renous and LSW.

Hydrometric Data

Good Day

With respect to the river levels on the Miramichi and Cains, I like to keep an eye on things by checking the river levels and comparing them to earlier dates or the same date last year, this data is available at:

http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/formnav.asp

There are many stations around NB and there is a map on that site as well

water levels

Has anyone seen the LSE, Renous or Caines? What’s the water level like. I got a first hand report that the Main South West is over the banks, so fishing is done there for the year. Just wondering about the other rivers..

TIA
