Fooling around with some new crap.

I guide friend up in the Gaspe was looking for some bright colored flies for a new hat he just got. While fooling around with some dyed Amherst necks I just got, I came up with this fly for him. I thought the whole feather wings would be more durable than, say a married wing, for a fly that was going to be riding around on the outside of someone’s hat. Comments and criticisms welcome.

Charlie,

What, no hot chrome yellow dyed topping feathers to go with the neon theme?

Oh well, at least he won't get lost in the crowd with that neon creation in his hat! I hope he is an outgoing sort.

Seriously, You did yourself proud.

Thanks guys!

Charlie.

P.S. flytyer, how can I get my hands on some of this hot chrome yellow dye.
And yes, Mario is very outgoing. Just ask Ann.

Charlie,

There is an outfit by the name of Dharma Trading Company in CA that sells it. They simply call it flourescent yellow acid dye and they sell it in 2 oz. containers for about $8.00. It is very nice and produces a wonderful, very bright, pure flourescent yellow without any green in it at all. And as a bonus, when it is mixed with hot pink or hot fushia dye, you can get beautiful flourescent orange shades from very light orange to flame orange and everything in between simply by varying the proportion of the fl. yellow to the hot pink or hot fushia.

Very nice tie!!!! I do apreciate the body work matching the wing in color. This is art on a hook! Well thought out, idea probably hit you at about 2:am in the morn as it does me. Write it down after you wake before you forget.

Hey Richard,

When you get to the Petite head over to the Bonnie (next Valley over) and take it off of Mario's hat. That will save us some postage.

Charlie.

Oh God, Charlie
I just visited the thread again. Please, please not Mario! He'll put it up there along with Lulu. It'll be unbearable. I can just hear him now . . . we won't be able to keep him quiet.
