First Shot at Trout

I am going to take my first shot at trout next weekend. I was thinking the Housy in CT. Any advice or info? Are there any rivers around here that are normal yet.

The water levels for the Squanacook are down to normal levels. Actually most of the streams in Massachussetts are below the historical averages today. I have tomorrow am cleared with the boss and may be there or on a small tributary of the Quabbin. I will post a report tomorow pm on it.

For reference the link to water level data for the US is http://water.usgs.gov/realtime.html .

A link on the Housy is http://www.dryflies.com/hro_report.shtml .
Its one of those rivers that I've always wanted to fish.

I drove over the upper Nissitissit the other day while on errands, looked very fishable. Color was good, level low for spring, and it looked very fishy.

***Cliff Pond (NSP) - excellent for trout, smallmouth

**Little Cliff (NSP) w/ canoe - excellent for trout

****Higgins (NSP,4x4) w/ canoe - reclaimed C&R trout!

***Scargo Pond, Dennis - excellent on 6A side off hours, good all day with canoe

***Sheeps Pond, Brewster - excellent trout w/ canoe or if on foot walk to the right at Fisherman's Ldg and fish off the point at dawn and dusk.

Thanks for the info. To be honest though there is something I have never liked about fishing ponds. I mean It is good but it is nothing like moving water. Actually I was thinking about a Scorton Creek. A few trout and some hold overs.

Thanks for the offer Nate. I got home tonight and found that I was rescheduled and have to be off the water by 8:30 am for family obligations. I will on the Squanacook tomorrow though.
