Hi Nick,
SShh don't tell too many people. We don't want every man and his dog crowding the Tongariro.
I am glad that you enjoyed it, which parts of the river did you fish, did you have any success? I am interested to hear about tourists impressions of Taupo/Turangi.

Ian

I covet only one Taupo...

I know where there is one that is still in the box with the cellophane still intact!!! An old friend of mine who owned a Tackle Shop in Downtown Seattle used to have a lot of fun tempting John Wayne (Thee John Wayne) with the reel when he was visiting Puget Sound on his refurbished Mine Sweeper , The Monngoose. As I recall Wayne offered $1000 back in the early 60's. But hey he had lots of money and Hippo really didn't want him to have it. I doubt there is another Taupo in the box with cellophane intact. If I were to get my grubby paws on it it would be lined and fished regularly. Hey Hippo do you have the Internet?
