Salmon River Spey Clave!

Getting psyched for the event.

Mr.Smooth (Andy Murray) is reason alone to attend, but there are more demonstrations and opportunities to learn, tune and enjoy the art of Spey casting. You'll try all manner of rods, reels and lines and learn new tricks as well as share what you know. There are private lessons available from experienced Spey instructors. The off-water time is sure to be as much fun as the on-water time, as is the case with Spey claves.

So how about a show of hands - who's going to attend?

I'm in, I'm in!!!

Looking forward to see you and Andy in action.

I hear the water is scheduled to be released around the time of the clave so we'll have to keep everyones eye on the ball and not any fish hanging around.

See you there.

-Chris

I'm in. I havenít talked to Andy Murray in a few years. He's always good for a few laughs. Should be a fun time.

Charlie.

Spey clave

Hey spey cast people isn't the spey cast just a glorified roll cast? Just kidding I am just getting into the sport and live in michigan so its hard to find others who like the the black arts of fishing. Most people here are chuck and duck artists who call themselves fly fishermen. Hope you all have a good time and good fishing to you.

Absolutely! Just like I see golf as a glorified lawn game.

Seriously, Spey casting solves a particular set of problems for the angler:

1) increase of ratio of backcast to forward cast, 20ft back and 100ft fore = 5:1, Skagit casts can reach 8:1 or even 10:1 returns.

2) large changes of direction in a single continuous movement

3) line control for presentation advantages

4) economy of physical energy for longevity through days, trips even lifetimes

Not to mention that it provides much aesthetic pleasure and satisfaction from the pursuit of an intriguing method of fly casting and fishing.

I won't be able to make it, My sis has decided that the best weekend for a visit is that weekend, so...there is a campsite along the upper river called Stoney's Pineville Campground. It's Alright, It';s on the web.

Ther is stoneys and there is also Selkirk Shores which is a public park in the area that I believe has some camping.

Whitakers, which is a local lodge, is offering some great rates for that weekend. They can be reached at 315-298-6162. If they aren't there leave a message.

Plan on being there and know I will leave a better Spey-man than when I arrived. Be nice to meet those that are there. Gillie, thanks for getting this started.

He is better than "damn good". He is amazing, and a nicer more patient, guy would be hard to find.
