I GOT THE VIBE!!!

Boy if striper fishing was sniffed out with a divining rod my arms would be shaking down to the shoulders. Last week's clave we left things about to explode with waves of fish moving in under the cover of clouds, rain and wind (but evident even in the shortest sun breaks). Gannets in groups of over 100 were diving hard into big bait for hours on end in several locations around the Chatham shoreline, both oceanside and Nantucket Sound. Every dark bottomed estuary was jammed with schoolies and the suds were awash with twinkies and the occasional respectable fish. It seemed you could not go anywhere without finding signs of fish.

The last fish I hooked was escorted to shore by a squadron of cows all big enough to have the schoolie for a snack if they were inclined to eat their own. I'd wished I hooked a hickory shad or mackeral (which were around on both sides of the cape) when I saw these followers.

This has gotta to be the weekend things go nuts, and then they get better

Unfortunately I am committed to a deep list of tasks and family obligations this weekend and am unsure whether I will get to any fishing at all. Maybe a midnight run for a few hours if I am lucky.

Can't wait to hear the reports!

Things are definately looking good, got a pair of 30" fish at the Stage harbor inlet in just an hour of fishing yesterday, tons of micros and schoolies too...

Dreams

I have returned from a business trip around the globe and now I am stricken with dreams of stripers in the wash.

I wish I had time to head to Chatham this weekend but after 2 weekends away from home I need to opt for a shorter North Shore trip.

I plan on hitting some Hampton, NH estuaries and then maybe Joppa on Sunday morning.

I need that tug to remind myself that all is right with the world.

Good luck this weekend....

Mike

Juro. What happened to your shad flies? I know from experience that stripers love shad and once they get devoured by a 40 lb. + fish you WILL want to cast for another shad! It's just too ridiculous to pass up once and a while. You'll laugh yourself silly and want to be back the following night. I'm out the door at 8pm tonight to see if they have arrived.
