Question Opening a flyshop

I would like to know if anyone out there has some information on how to get started in the fly shop business. Mainly I am wondering about suppliers and how to contact them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Question; How do you make a small fortune in the flyshop business?

Answer: Start with a large one.

I know the oldies are the best.

Your words are all too true these day willie.....

I think the fly business is going more and more towards big box retailers....at least the high $$$$ items.

I see a shifting role of fly shops from selling gear(rods and reels) to needing to be more of a outfitter store complete with guide services, casting classes, tying classes, and things that a small business can provide that a big one cannot.

good luck in your endeavors with your startup

it really is as simple as calling them on the phone. or, find out who the local reps are, and talk to them. the fly tackle retailers show in denver or salt lake would be good too.
