Hardy Marquis 8/9 line capacity

Am trying to find how much backing I can get on a Hardy Marquis 8/9 click check with a #8 SA Steelhead taper line.
Thinking about getting one but want more info first.
Appreciate any info you might have.
Thanks.

I've used that line on my St. Aiden and Marquis #10 which are both 3-3/4" reels. The #10 is a little bit more narrow than the St Aiden and near the limit of its capacity with that line. A DT8F will fill up the #10 with only room for a very limited amount of backing (100± yds or less).

I suspect that the 3-5/8" Marquis 8/9 will be a bit on the small side for this line. I don't doubt you could do it, but I'd recomend the #10 if you want to use one of the Marquis series reels.

Thanks for the input.
I kinda thought it would be too small for that line. Guess I'll pass on that reel. Was looking for something 6 oz or less. The #10 Marquis is over 9.5 oz.

Huh? 9.5+ ozs for the #10?! You've got bad data. That's more than a 4" Bouglé IV weighs. A Marquis 10 will be pretty close in weight to your 6oz mark, but I couldn't tell you whether its more or less without their specs.

Hello Greenbutt go to item #7149322102 on Ebay there is an 8/9 there. He says in his ad that there is a paper with it with info about the reel .Maybe this will help .

Thanks for the input guys, The above is the only site I could find that lists the specs for Marquis. I know it's out there in some of the publications about Hardy.
I just noticed that the capacities are in meters so maybe I could get 100yds of backing with this line.
Is this chart off?
I think the Marquis are a heavier reel than the Bougle' series.

That 9/10/11 in the specs you linked is actually the Marquis Salmon No. 2. Hardy changed its name to 9/10/11 the last year or two that they produced it. It's a full-sized reel (4-1/8" dia) for a two-handed rod. It'd be too big for any rod that will match with the 8/9 or even 10 Marquis, ie, 7 - 9 weight single hand rod or very light two-handed rod.

The Marquis series is much lighter than a comparable-sized Bouglé. If you dig around, I'm sure you'll find the specs on it somewhere. I'll bet a #10 Marquis is very close to the 6oz mark.
