Took a ride to the baby carp fishery on the Housatonic River and immediately spotted a small carp cruising the shallows. Ran back to the car for the rod (duh!) but the fish was gone when I returned. A short stroll down the bank I spotted a couple more carp on the opposite side of the channel. I had trees behind me so I had to roll cast and couldn't reach them. A little further down the bank I spotted a couple more within casting range. Flipped out the berry and one of the carp swam right over and checked it out but didn't eat. I moved the fly and the carp followed again and sniffed but didn't inhale
. Then it swam right towards me as if to say, "I know you're there," then turned and swam on down the shore. I had a few more shots at fish with a couple of different flies but they weren't interested.
Good to see some fish anyway!
