Pompier Shrimp

I haven't seen anyone post any Ally Shimp style flies lately and since I was tying some of these today, I thought I'd post a scan of one.

Pompier Shrimp.

tip: oval gold
tail: yellow bucktail and yellow Krystal Flash
body: black floss
rib: oval gold
veiling: grey squirrel tail
wing: G.P. tippet layed flat
hackle: Highlander Green
head: red thread

Here's the original pattern tyed on a #10 treble (Yes it buggers up your fingers as they connect with the hook tips as your tying them up) Found it and other shrimp patterns had to be tyed this small for our Gaspe Atlantics.Also the hackle HAS to be very soft and cloaking the body.
Tying them up now on vry light #10 singles and a much longer and thinner tail.

Very cool flies gentlemen. I will have to take a few of these up with me this year. I will have to ask Michel Beaudin what he thinks of these very nice variations on his fly. Shrimp flies have been working well the last few years up in Gaspe.
