Out-of-Stater looking for water

Hey guys,

I am from Maine and will be in Western New York the week of March 7th.
Barring terrible weather I hope to wet my lines before the Spring salmon fishing here in the Northeast.

Peter, I see that you are watching this forum. You helped me to get a Daiwa Lochmoor-X 12'-6.

What water would you recommend to me? I will be wading, have an insulated camper and have two handed rods for distance if necessary.

Appreciate what you can suggest.

Mike

Hi Mike

There are guys around here that know those waters better than me so they should be able to fill you in with some specifics. Cattaraugus and 18 Mile Creeks would be good choices to start off with. The bridge at Gowanda on the Catt, where the last clave was held, has lots of good swing water.

Cheers

Streamer Man

Peter,

Good to hear from you again!
So you have become a specialist in streamer fishing. I was llooking at your recent post on Great Lakes forage fish too.

The steelhead at this time of the year are not going to chase after a speedster baitfish are they? Rather I will have to draw from my arsenal of insects, no?

Mike

Probably not but I'll fish 'em anyway. Nick will be able to fix you up with the best flies for this time of year.
