I plan to be there

Are we having a table this year (like years past) for fly tying?

Not sure if I should bring some tying gear?

I usually rattle of a few swap flies at SWE

One of my favorite gatherings of the year

Wish I could make it, but I'll be smelting up in Maine with my family.

If anyone has the opportunity to go to this event, please do. Not only is the Saltwater Edge a Forum sponsor, but the show is very worth the time to be there. Great materials, great tyers, great presentations....great stuff.

Boy, I sure do enjoy this Fair. It`s so much more personal than the big shows. All the tiers are at thier oun round table and you just walk up and take a seat and It`s a great learning experience. A lot of Forum members showed up and the addition of Mrs. Striper, Mrs. Fred, Mrs Capt Ray and Mrs. Slinger made it even more pleasant. A few new faces were in attendance, I particularly liked Steve Farrar`s work. Raised over $ 2200 for charity, but Fred will just have to get along with his old rod. Where`s prettier than Newport on a late winter day, the views from the bridges were enough to stave off shack nasties till the first fish.
I particularly like teaching youngsters to tie, so I`ll relate this story. A young boy came by the Rhoddy table with his dad, he was really interested with all things having to do with tying. I had some hooks pre tied with clouser eyes and mono loops on the end for quick tying. Even with his hand in a cast he sat down and without any assistance except verbal whipped out a first rate Rats Ass thats a guarenteed killer. An hour later he came back to show me all the stuff he bought to start tying, a compleat outfit, except they didn`t have any thread. So I took the spool right off my bobbin and gave it to him, such a small investment to insure a lifetime of creativity.

It was a great show. Got a chance to see Steve Farrar's work up close and get some tips on blending. Capt Ray's squid with the way he did the eyes was worth the trip down. Got to talk to Dave Skok and watched him tie his Flounder Fly.
Great to see Adrain, Fred A , Jim W and his daughter, Slinger , JBasser back from the tropics and all the way from Jorsey Doc Duprey.
The best feature of this show is you get to interact with some of the best flytyers in the area.
