How about those Patriots!

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the SuperBowl victory.

Or have we in New England become so used to winning that it really doesn't register any longer?

YEEEEAAAAAAHHH PATS! I'm glad they won it again. They can't keep winning forever (can they?? ) so I think it's great that they were able to make their mark in sports history. Our teams have suffered through some long droughts and it's nice that we get to celebrate for a change!

I tried to resist, but couldn't help myself. Blame it all on a long winter and shack nasties, I guess.

I recall the advertisement talking about famous rivers are good as it keeps all the anglers away from the really good rivers. Same here, I heard there was some kind of a game going on back on the right coast, and I thought, cool, all the imported gear heads will be swilling beer and I will have the river to myself all day on Sunday.

First half... who are these bums?

Second half... the battle of the titans.

My favorite part... sitting with family together and enjoying some food, laughs.

and oh yeah, their winning was cool too! GO PATS!

Still recovering. Never gets old. Anyone who says it does is delusional or spoiled rotten. As I said to my oldest boys, we're living in fortunate times as Boston fans. This doesn't happen all that often - if at all - so enjoy it NOW.

Random thoughts on the game:

1. Eagles had their chance early. Pats offense came out flat, and calls and balls were falling Phila's way. From the luckiest sack McNabb ever took on play #3 from Bruschi, to Mitchell's pick on Gay to free Owens for his 30 yard scamper, to the "questionable" interference call on Pfifer that nullified Harrison's endzone pick out to the 32, to Brady's fumble on the 4, the Iggles had their opportunities gift wrapped. Yet they only managed 7.

Like Pedro in game #3 of the WS, once the Pats settled it was game over. 1 hiccup late - leaving Reid 1:1 on Lewis w/ no one over the top - made the final score closer than it should have been.

2. Fox's coverage was typically bad. Instead of lame promotions - Hey! There's Will Smith! Whadda' ya' know, he's got a movie coming out! - the Buck boys perhaps could have talked about how significant Wilson breaking his arm was, or why clock-killin' Corey Dillon wasn't on the field for the Pat's final offensive series - when the absolutely NEEDED one 1st down to finish the game. Was Corey hurt? No idea.

3. Eagle's clock management - oxymoron.

4. Terrell Owens - tough competitor. While he seems to bring it on himself, his post-game comments on the media vis-a-vis their treatment of him vs Favre were dead-on.

5. Less than 6 months to the 1st pre-season game...

Tod, I agree with your synopsis.

And I also agree that it never gets old.

And the seconds ticked away.....

Spoke with my Dad tonight who said he saw something on the tube about McNabb vomitting from a concussion or something during those final huddles...would explain the Birds seeming lack of urgency during their last possession...

I've heard other rumors about McNabb being sick before the game, but nothing about a concussion during the game. The Pats are simply one of the best all-around teams the NFL has ever seen. They don't excel at anything, they just dominate. It really makes for some exciting games! I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some doubt after the first 1/2 of the Super Bowl, but I was still 99.9% sure they'd be back to spank the Eagles. I still like McNabb though since I've from upstate NY and Syracuse is my favorite college team (where McNabb is from).
